Monday, 31 Mar 2025
Bishop Druitt College proudly celebrates the remarkable achievements of Milla Adamson, a standout athlete in both the BDC High Performance Program and BDC Golf Academy. At just 13 years old, Milla is showcasing exceptional talent, dedication, and ambition, firmly establishing herself on the path to professional golf success.
Milla’s recent performances have been nothing short of outstanding. On Sunday 23 March, she emerged as the net winner of the Surfers Paradise Junior Classic and placed 6th overall with a gross score of 78 (+6). Additionally, she secured victory in the Junior Club Championships at Coffs Harbour Golf Club, further cementing her status as one of the region’s brightest young golfing talents. In September, she finished as the Nett runner-up in the prestigious Jack Newton Sub Junior International tournament.
Her impressive list of accolades continues, as she is also a valued member of the North Coast Academy of Sport (NCAS) golf team, where she was recently honoured with the Encouragement Award.
Bishop Druitt College’s High Performance and Academies Director, Nat Titcume, expressed immense pride in Milla’s accomplishments. “Milla’s dedication to her sport is truly inspiring. Her achievements at such a young age are a testament to her hard work, discipline, and natural ability. We have no doubt that she has an exciting future ahead of her in the world of golf.”
Bishop Druitt College is immensely proud of Milla’s journey and looks forward to supporting her as she continues to strive for excellence in golf. The Assistant Principal at Bishop Druitt College said “Milla Adamson is a shining example of dedication and excellence and at just 13 years old Milla is forging a path to greatness. The future of golf is bright with young stars like her leading the way.”
With a current Golf Australia handicap of 6.3, Milla holds the lowest handicap in the Bishop Druitt College Golf Academy—an extraordinary feat for someone of her age. To put this into perspective, one of Milla’s idols, professional golfer Steph Kyriacou, had a handicap of 8 at 13 years old, while golfing legend Karrie Webb was off 11 at the same age. This comparison highlights just how advanced Milla’s game is at this stage of her development.
Milla’s journey has been strengthened by the generous support of Nicole and Michael Martin, owners of Guzman y Gomez Coffs Harbour. Their belief in her talent and unwavering commitment to her growth will provide Milla with additional resources and opportunities as she continues to excel in her sport.
“We are incredibly excited to be a part of Milla’s journey. Her passion, dedication, and natural ability make her a true inspiration, and we can’t wait to see what she achieves this year,” said Nicole and Michael Martin.
Looking ahead, Milla plans to compete in as many junior tournaments as possible across the country, gaining invaluable experience in high-level competition. She also travels to the Gold Coast once a month to train under the guidance of her esteemed coach, Ji McBryde, a High Performance coach for Golf Australia based at Sanctuary Cove Golf Club. McBryde has worked with several highly talented juniors, including Sarah Hammett, Shyla Singh, and Millie Komulainen.
“Milla is an exceptional young talent with an incredible work ethic,” said Ji McBryde. “She has a natural ability that, combined with her dedication and passion for the game, will take her far. I have no doubt that she has the potential to achieve great success in the sport.”
