Primary Boys and Girls

On the 5th of November, two primary basketball teams competed in the regional qualifying tournament, aiming for a spot in the state championships. The girls' team performed exceptionally well, placing second in Division One. The boys' team also impressed, taking first place and securing the Division Two championship—a fantastic result!

Thank you to Zara Baldwin and Tim Chapman for their dedication and coaching. We’re proud of all our players and look forward to their next achievements!

Primary Netball School Cup

On Tuesday 12 November, our Year 5/6 netball team travelled to Sydney to compete in the state finals of the Netball NSW Schools Cup. Mixing with the top 10 teams in the state, our girls showed some fantastic skills and camaraderie over the course of the day and also took some invaluable lessons to continue to build our game in the future. Our team won 2 out of their 4 games, placing them 3rd in their pool and 5th overall. A pleasing result for their first state final and one that has put fire in the belly to go even better in the years to come. Congratulations to our team on their efforts!

Thanks also needs to go to the amazing coaches of Mrs Brugemann and Mrs Spagnolo.

Australasian Champion of Champions Futsal Tournament

8th - 10th November 2024, Brisbane, Qld.

The Australasian Champion of Champions Futsal Tournament is an annual event made up of the top four teams from the Champion of Champions in Southern Qld, the top two teams from ACT, FNNSW, Tasmania, Victoria, Southern NSW, Hastings and Whitsunday Regional School titles, plus invitational school sides from other states and possible wild card entrants.

BDC sent two qualifying teams from the FNNSW competition to the 2024 Tournament. The U13 Boys and U12 Girls teams.

The 13 Years' Boys team played brilliantly as a team, showing great skill and determination. Although they didn’t make it to the finals, they gave their all and faced some tough competitors.

The team’s strong spirit and teamwork were key to their success, and they proudly represented our school. Two players, Charlie Phillips and Nate Harris, were successful in gaining selection in the All Stars Team from the Tournament being offered an Australian Tour to Italy. A huge achievement!

We are so proud of the boys for their effort and sportsmanship throughout the competition.

The 12 Years’ Girls Team started and ended the tournament with great wins against skilful sides, They also Drew against an U13’s team in their combined 12/13’s competition.

Despite not making the finals, the girls showed ever-improving team play. Their effort, enthusiasm and commitment were impressive with 8 intense games in 2.5 days. Above this was their incredible sportsmanship throughout.

Congratulations to Tilda Duerincks and Stella Jephcott who gained selection in the 12 Girls All Stars Team also being offered an Australian Tour to Italy. Congratulations girls.

Thank you to the Coaches My Ty Gillon and My Samuel James, and to the Managers Mr Angus Harris and Mrs Prue Graham for accompanying the students on this trip.

The two U/15s teams unfortunately did not make the finals but they all played really well, with some of them being first time players.

It was a wonderful day and all students were a credit to BDC.

Waratah Shield - girls U17s Competition

It was the first time this competition, the Waratah Shield knockout tournament was played, on Thursday 31st October at Rugby Park in Coffs Harbour. 14 girls from BDC played their Round 1 game. On the day BDC played with great sportsmanship and courage against Ballina High School.

Our try scorers for the day were Ruby Flanders, Aria Matthews, Charlotte Ricketts, Emerson Charnock, Danai Tsipitsidis, Dakota Weatherby and Poppi Flanders.

The girls won by an impressive 73 - 5. However, Round 2 was as far as the girls managed to get playing for the first time in this competition. The atmosphere at TAS was amazing and it was an up-down battle all game. However, they lost on the buzzer with a late try going down to TAS in Armidale. A great effort by the girls and thanks to the coaching and managing team of Mrs Dawson, Joey and Jason.
