Music schools, Bishop Druitt College and Coffs Harbour Regional Conservatorium, join forces and put on a combined concert, to raise money for a new Marimba.

Tuesday, 11 June 2019

Orchestras from the K-12 Anglican College, Bishop Druitt College, will join forces with the Coffs Harbour Regional Conservatorium for a combined concert. The combined orchestras will play a range of pieces including New World Symphony mvmt 1, Themes from “Scheherazade”, Mozart Jupiter Symphony, Jurassic Park Soundtrack, and The Greatest Showman.

The event entry is by gold coin donation with all money raised, going towards purchasing a Marimba. A Marimba is a mallet percussion instrument, which will be greatly used by all of the ensembles, including the Orchestra. In fact, one of the pieces being performed in the concert has a large marimba part.

“In 2018, we held our first ever combined BDC and Con Orchestra concert at the Con. The idea came about through discussions with Pat Brearley from the Con and the desire, to offer opportunities for students from other schools, to come together to play music. The event was a huge booked out success and we decided to do it again this year, but this time, at BDC.” Rebecca Day, Head of Performing Arts, Bishop Druitt College.

The concert will be held on Wednesday, June 26 at 6pm, in the Branson Centre at Bishop Druitt College.

The performance is open to the public and is a great way to collaborate and build positive relationships with students from different schools.
