Steps to Enrolment

'At the heart of our school is a commitment to develop the whole child.'

Thank you for considering Bishop Druitt College for the educational future of your child.

Bishop Druitt College enrolls students who may gain benefit from the broad, balanced education offered by the college and who may contribute to the life of the college by participating as fully as possible in the range of co-curricular activities available.

Our prime entry points are Kindergarten, Year 5 (ensuring a place in Year 7), and Year 7. Vacancies occasionally arise in other year groups, these are offered to the next student on the wait list. This selection is subject to availability, and according to a number of criteria at the discretion of the college. Please note: If you are applying for Kindergarten, your child must have turned 5 before 1 March of the year in which they would commence.

We have growing waitlists across all year levels, so it is never too early to apply. Some parents choose to apply for their children many years prior to attendance (even from the birth of their child).

Preference is given first to the children of BDC staff, alumni, and clergy. All other enrolment places are offered using the enrolment process review with the College Leadership Team. If your application is placed on our waitlist at Bishop Druitt College, with your permission, we may share your contact details with Clarence Valley Anglican School (CVAS), a sister school within the Anglican school community.

Steps to enrolling your child

'Our aim is to transform the lives of our students through the provision of an excellent education.'
BDC Enrolment Policy

Bishop Druitt College is a comprehensive co-educational K-12 school providing education underpinned by Christian values and operating within the policies of the NSW Education Standards Authority.

Characteristics of the Student Body

The school has 1295 students of whom 765 are in the secondary school and 530 are in the primary school. There are approximately equal numbers of boys and girls throughout the school.  As BDC is a comprehensive school, the students come from a wide range of backgrounds, including language backgrounds other than English and a number of students with special needs.

Reflecting the demographic complexion of the local area, we have seen an increasing enrolment of both new arrival refugee and Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander students. Additionally, the school periodically enrols overseas students, either as exchange students or full-fee paying overseas students.

Policy Statement

  • For all applications, consideration will be given to the applicant’s support for the ethos of the school, date of application, siblings already attending the school and other criteria determined by the school from time to time.
  • Once enrolled, students are expected to support the school’s ethos and comply with the school rules in order to maintain their enrolment.
